Erin Young, graduating salutatorian of Summit High in 2003, has unique insights between the relationship of the School Board’s work and communication with those of students and likewise students with the School Board and the community.

She graduated Magna Cum Laude from CU Denver and was a Chancellor’s Scholar. Now she is a professional skier and Summit School District School Board member.

As such, Erin hopes to increase the District’s Spanish-language and bilingual programs and continue the advance teaching styles that focus on the new 21st-century learner.

Barbara Leffler, PhD, licensed psychologist and advanced practice nurse, practices in Summit County. She is the former chairwoman of the Summit County chapter of Mental Health America.

She often works with health psychology and helping people deal with difficult situations and has written articles including “Recognizing and Combating Seasonal Affective Disorder”.

Dr. Leffler has been part of a forum presenting on breaking the cycle of reoccurring depression by using mindfulness-based cognitive therapy — a method that even those who don’t have a specific problem with depression can benefit.
